From humble beginnings

In 2017 the Glamour Veg Packers (Pty) Ltd concept was born from two farmers in the Gauteng area that joined forces and realised the need for specialisation. As both farmers produced lettuce, vegetable and herbs their joining of forces in the luxury food category was a perfect fit. The truth of the production economy in South Africa is that every aspect of the value chain needs to specialise in their field to ensure effectiveness. Johan du Plessis joined the farmers group as the operational executive and brought with him vast experience of knowledge in serving the retail industry. The focus of the group improved the finesse of the client experience.

Being born from the mind of producers Glamour Veg Packers created a culture of serving the industry. From the onset, the Glamour Veg Packers character was defined by the desire and determination to provide its client base with an improved service experience. This serving culture was firmly established by discipline, and the self-sacrifice the entire employee group makes in ensuring that a client is served to their precise requirements.

Another characteristic from our Foundation is the essence in ensuring equitable distribution of margins throughout the value chain and ensuring the farmer and his production units are treated with the fairness, respect and understanding. We fully realize that we work with Nature and all her uncertainties and in this we still need to fulfil our core purpose of serving the client with conscientiousness.

Change in ownership

In 2021 Glamour Veg Packers continued its transformation journey and greeted the two original farmers who expressed their wish to retire from the industry and also pursue other endeavours in life. It is with gratitude that we continued our journey and the culture that was installed by these remarkable farmers. Nico le Roux joined the group and as an agricultural economist he increased the focus on the effectiveness of the group. The enterprise grew and moved to a new farm location in Muldersdrift. A High Care facility was added to the enterprise ensuring that a more specialised product could be added to our repertoire.

Glamour Veg Packers further increased our farm producers to four different provinces in South Africa in the spirit of ensuring constant quality of produce to our clients.
